?What are the risks of not treating squint

Squint affect life in different ways, for example

  1. Causes cosmatic concerns.
  2. Squint often causes psychological complications, especially in children and women.
  3. Abnormal positions of the head and face are subconsciously adopted in children having paralytic extraocular. This position can damage the neck vertebra for a lifetime.
  4. Headaches, dizziness, and difficulty due to moving words while reading are common symptoms of this disease. Their squint affects the performance. Children have apprehension from reading. People start avoiding work while they do not even understand the reason of the discomfort!

?Is it possible to cure squint

Most patients can be treated. Treatment is related to the defect. If the eye’s performance is defected due to some treatable reason and we repair that defect in some way, it will decrease the squint. For Example:

  1. If the patient also have cataract, and cataract surgery is performed, it will improve the squint also.
  2. If a patient is having refractive error and is advised spectacles but does not use the spectacles. If the patient starts to use the spectacles gradually, the squint will also improve.
  3. Similarly, if the muscle is paralyzed or congenitally weakened, it is often possible to improve its performance by exercises or by prisms. This will reduce squint.

?What methods are used to eliminate the defect of squint

As the treatment depends on the cause of the squint, so different methods of treatment are used. Below are some examples of treatment methods

  1. If the muscle of the eye becomes weak, then if the operation is done to make it smaller, then the squint disappears.
  2. If the eye muscle has shrunk, then by operating and lengthening the muscle, makes the eyes straight.
  3. If the eye that is not functional due to amblyopia, itreated amblyopia treats the squint. t
  4. There are some squint patients who benefit a lot from certain exercises.
  5. Many squint patients straighten their eyes just by wearing glasses.
  6. There are some patients with squint who benefit from medication.

    ڈاکٹر صاحب میری عمر 28 سال ہے اور میری بائیں آنکھ دائیں کے مقابلے میں زرا کم کھلتی ہے اور آنکھ کا ڈیلا تھوڑا اوپر کو اٹھا ہوا ہے بچپن سے اس طرف کوئی توجہ نہیں دی گئی لیکن اب اس وجہ سے بہت شرمندگی ہوتی ہے۔
