?What to do before a laser operation

  • You should know that “What is the aim of the treatment?”
  • You should be within the age limit; best age is from 18 years to 40 years.
  • If you are determined then set the treatment as your first priority as it is a costly procedure and you will have to manage for the cost!
  • A detailed examination should be performed before operation
    • To identify the potential for damage or the risk factors.
    • Some patients may need some pretreatments like some retinal laser or some lid infection may need to be treated.
  • It is best to use antibiotic drops for 1-2 days before treatment to prevent post-operative infection.

?What to expect after operation

  • The operation time is few minutes; during which the patient does not have any problems. The patients usually are busy in talking to the doctor during the procedure. Only drops are used for anesthesia, no injections are used.
  • Be ready for some discomfort. Immediately after the operation patient is alright, but after some time you may feel irritation and watering. Many people also feel difficulty with light.
  • Be ready for some blurriness after the operation which usually fades after about 8 hours. The second day is usually the equivalent of no blurring.
  • Be ready for reading difficulty in the early postoperative days. Improvement of vision usually occurs within the first few days, but this process lasts for three months. Especially those with higher numbers. Actually there is an inflammation of the cornea. As the inflammation gets better, the discomfort gets better.
  • It is difficult to return to work for the first two days after which you can return to work.
