Is the use of spectacles related to computer vision syndrome?

  • Some people have weakness of vision but do not use glasses, but the tendency to work without spectacles causes problems during computer work.
  • Many do not even wear glasses, which increases the risk of accommodation spasm. In this condition, the eye muscles become spasmatic. It causes headaches and other ailments.
  • An important issue is that in the state of spasm it is very difficult to evaluate the exact number of glasses. The autorefractor computer also gives wrong numbers, the same happens while subjective examination of the patient. The patient is satisfied with the wrong numbers but while using the glasses he/she never feels comfortable.
  • Some people do not use glasses properly. For example, the glasses that must be worn at all times are used only when doing close work.
  • People face a lot of difficulties, especially after the age of forty. At this age the near and far lenses are separated, but the distance to the computer is usually not according to the part of lens meant for near vision [which is usually 15 inches] nor to thatb part which is meant for distant vision [which is usually 20 feet]. ۔ So the solutions are following:
    • To make a third glasses that matches with the distance of the computer.
    • The best solution is to use progressive lenses that have different distances. These glasses have multiple focuses in the same lens.
